Obscene Interiors and Invisible Porn

Obscene Interiors

According to his profile on Flickr, Brandt Botes is a graphic designer and judging by some of his work, a very talented artist. One of the most interesting of his work is a set of photos that he posted earlier this year containing pornographic scenes. What’s different about these scenes though, is that the porn stars are turned into white figures. It’s cool because it kinda makes you notice the odd room colors much more than you obviously would otherwise. No nudity is shown, but still probably not safe for work.

  1. This concept of removing the figures from porn began with a feature called “Obscene Interiors” on my website JustinSpace.com in 1999 and was covered shortly after by The New York Times and other publications. My collection of online male personal ads with the figures grayed out became a book, “Obscene Interiors: Hardcore Amateur Decor” published in 2004 by Baby Tattoo.

This Brandt Botes person (aka Von Brandis) you’ve mentioned was clearly “inspired” by my work.

  2. Thanks for the input Justin. Your descriptions are pretty funny on the Obscene Interiors on your site. I would have never noticed Mr. Potato Head.
